The second semester, the semester which every lessons are being separated such as,
writing class, speaking class, reading class, and listening class. It is just
to make it easier, so that we students can focus on one subject or topic in one
class. In this writing class, I got to learn about new thing I have not learnt
before. I got to create a blog and use it as the media for the lessons, so
whenever I got an assignment I will have to post it on my blog. This is kind of
new to me since I have never got any social media involved as one of the parts
of my subject before. In this class, I have told to tell some recounts. It was
one to to tell some unusual experience that I got. I had not known before that there were so
many rules to be paid attention of in writing something. I published my first
assignment to recount my unusual
experience and my teacher commented about it. The contraction, the singular and
plural rules, the puncuation marks, and also some of the tenses. In writing something, we should not use any
contraction in the sentence, so we have to write the full term such as “ I have
“ instead of “I’ve”. The using of singular and plural thing and the tenses are also
need to be carefully watched as this blog can be seen by the whole world. “Seven
words in one sentence for a university student should not be so tough” my
teacher said. I learnt that in university, everything is way different than
school life because here everything is getting bigger and massive! I used to be
asked to only write 3 or 4 words in one sentence, but now 7 words is the
minimum limit.
I really had not known that in writing we had to use no
contraction at all. I got used to use a lot of contraction whenever I text my
friends because I am sometimes to lazy to write it fully, and some find that it
is “cool” to use them instead. As people know that slangs attack teenage life
badly. That makes me sometimes forgot the real English rules. I do not have to
pay attention while texting my friends, though, and it is also way simpler to
be that way, to use the contraction and stuffs. Now I have realized that it is
no longer can be practiced, not in my writing assingment atleast. I also get
distracted too much by the using of singular and plural thing, and a few
tenses. Sometimes when I type too quick, it is just slipped here and there. I
have to pay more attention to it. The same thing also happen to the using of my
punctuation mark. I sometimes use the coma more often instead of period. I have
realized that it has to be stopped because it will make some confusions in my
sentence’s meaning.
So after all those assignment, corrections and new knowledges I got. I hope I will do better
next time. I will improve my writing skills, and try not to repeat the same
mistakes again. Corrections are always good and helpful so that I know where
and what to revise. I will really pay more attention on the simple things like
the contraction, singular and plural, and the punctuation mark.
