Ohana Means Family

Family, familia, famiglia, la famille? They sound alike! They all have the same meaning which is one of the most important things in anyone’s life. I am nothing without family. I was born and raised in a family. Family means everything for me because it is where I began my life from. They have taught me so many things and raised me well until I have become like now. I am mixed although some people might not recognize it. My maternal side is the one which is kind of mixed the most. My grandmother from my mother side was a Dutch, but she was born and raised here in the Surakarta Kingdom which makes me holding the title “R.A” in front of my name for the rest of my life. I got to admit that is pretty cool sometimes though. Haha! My grandfather was a Chinese,  and was an army / soldier. He went through those scary wars long time ago. My paternal side is simply normal pure Indonesians. My grandfather was a biology teacher and was a so patient and loving figure for me. My grandmother used to work in a court. Getting involved in a court’s life with the judges is not easy, so she was great.  They both were Javanese. Although those amazing people are no more, they had given me the best parents ever.

I have got such a mixed beautiful mom and a very cool, great dad. My father is a mechanical engineering lecturer, on the other hand my mother is just a simply loving mother and a housewife. They both are young, and always there for me as parents yet bestfriends. People would never believe that they are my parents at the first time they saw us together because they look more like my brother and sister. They do look young, dress young, and they are young! This is such a good thing that I have a great relation with them so I do not feel the strictness and I can be open to them. They both are kindly open minded as well. They gave me one younger beautiful cheeky sister whom I am so close with. We four are so close. We have been told as a “Harmonic Family” a lot of times, and that makes us happy and grateful. We always go everywhere together, the malls, other cities, even nearby places.  This is the first time of us being separated as I moved to Surabaya for my study. However, it had to be done for everyone’s good. We are getting used to it now, but I still have not gone a day without contacting them.

Besides this amazing family I have, I am also grateful for my best friends. I have got such a fun and nice friends who are always be there for me in my bad or good times. I have one best friend whom I have been close with since my first day in high school. It has been almost 6 years now and we are still bestfriends. We used to hang out a lot, even had some sleepovers sometimes. She also lives in Surabaya but unfortunately we do not live close to each other so we barely meet. However, I have this group of girls who are always there for me. They have been there for me through a lot. Although we all had never met before we joined the university, we get along very well. We do crazy things together, and we are so loud. Once we get in the cafetaria the silent always breaks down and turns into voice and laugh war. Haha! This is a good thing for me so that I never feel bored or lazy to go to classes everyday. They are one of the reasons why I always have to attend classes, to meet and have fun with them.
